What is a labor patent?
A foreign citizen cannot carry out activities on the territory of the Russian Federation without official permission, which is issued by divisions of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. We are talking about a labor patent, which gives a foreign citizen the right to work for an individual or legal entity legally.
Note that a patent allows a migrant to get a job only in the region of the Russian Federation in which he received the document. Also, a foreigner has the right to engage only in the activities that were specified in this permit.
What documents are required for a foreign citizen to obtain a labor patent?
To obtain a patent, you must complete a number of mandatory procedures. First, you need to fill out a migration card when crossing the state border, in which you need to clearly indicate the purpose of arrival – “work”.
Next, the foreigner has a week to register for migration (if we are talking about a citizen of Tajikistan, this period is increased to 15 days). The next step is to file a patent for the work. Documents for it are submitted to the regional divisions of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation either by the migrant himself or by his employer.

- Application for a patent
- Identity document with notarized translation
- A document confirming knowledge of the Russian language and knowledge of the basic legislation of the Russian Federation
- Migration card for the purpose of entry – “WORK”
- Migration registration document
- Receipt for payment of personal income tax on a patent for one month
- In case of violation of the deadline for filing documents for registration of a patent, a receipt for payment of the fine is provided
- VHI policy or agreement on the provision of paid medical services
- Medical certificate confirming the absence of dangerous diseases
After successfully completing all procedures and submitting a package of documents, the migrant receives a work patent within an average of 10 working days.
Where can I get a medical certificate to apply for a labor patent?
Passing a medical examination is one of the necessary conditions for obtaining a work patent. Such an examination can be carried out and the necessary certificate can be issued only in those institutions that have the appropriate license.
Attention! A medical certificate with signs of falsification is easily detected by migration authorities. The owner of such a medical report risks being brought to administrative and even criminal liability. You should not use the services of organizations that offer you to buy a medical certificate for a labor patent without passing a medical examination.
